About this race
La Corrida de Surbourg is an early-evening village race held in Surbourg, located in the Bas-Rhin area of Alsace. The primary race covers approximately 8.2 to 8.3 km with about 50 m of elevation gain, presenting a brief road-and-path challenge rather than a flat city sprint. It begins at 7 PM, near the fairground or village hall, and since 2023, it has become part of the Surbourg Kirwe, the village festival weekend, adding a running element to the festivities.
The course consists of two laps through village streets, incorporating segments on farm tracks and forest paths. Approximately one hundred runners are anticipated. The event also features children’s races, with distances of 1.5 km and 0.7 km available for younger participants. The organizer is 2C4S, an abbreviation for Coureurs & cyclistes sylvestres sur Surbourg & Sauer. Post-race amenities include refreshments, changing rooms, and showers at the football field. Following the race, the Kirwe continues with amusement rides, food, and dancing, integrating the race into the broader village celebration.
