La Course des Rois is a 5 km road race in Chappes, a town in the Puy-de-Dome in central France. It is run in early January, with a late-afternoon start, and the format is short enough for beginners while still giving experienced runners a proper effort.
The route stays in town and uses two loops of 2.5 km, so runners pass through the same local atmosphere more than once and get repeated encouragement. The event draws more than 500 participants, includes a clear handisport dimension, and puts disabled and non-disabled athletes on the same start line.
