About this race
The La Drapoise René Vietto is a cyclosportive held in Drap, a village in the Alpes-Maritimes above Nice in France’s Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. It typically takes place in late May or early June, offering road cyclists two mountain routes: one of approximately 85 km with about 2,025 metres of elevation gain, and another of about 116 km with roughly 2,750 metres of climbing.
The routes ascend through the Paillon valleys, utilizing quiet, rugged roads above Nice and segments connected to the Tour de France. The Col de Braus is central to the event, serving as a significant climb and a connection to René Vietto, the Cannes-born French cyclist the race commemorates. A stele dedicated to Vietto is located at the summit, ensuring the most challenging part of the ride also holds the clearest element of its history.
