La Gourettoise is a ski mountaineering race held in Gourette, Eaux-Bonnes, organized by the ski mountaineering section of the Club Alpin vallée d’Ossau. Now in its 18th year, it starts racers in the morning on off-piste routes, allowing solo or team participation. Approximately one hundred competitors are anticipated, with checkpoint controls managed by electronic timing chips.
The Alpi Tour, a more challenging option, is for experienced racers. It features 1,400 meters of climbing, with solo or two-person team entry. The route crosses the Valentin valley towards Lac d’Anglas, then ascends the Arre Sourins ridge at 2,600 meters, followed by a climb up a secured couloir to the Cotch fountains. The Rando Tour, with under 1,000 meters of climbing, follows a direct couloir ascent to the Cotch fountains. It allows solo entry or teams of three (two men, one woman). Racers must carry a backpack, helmet, avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe. La Gourettoise is also connected to the Trophée du pic d’Anie via the Les Traces de l’Ouest trophy, which recognizes the three-person team with the best combined results from both events.
