About this race
La Marche en Fête in Toulouse is a 3 km walking event at Parc de la Grande Plaine, typically held on a Sunday in early October. Organized by the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme, it is a family-friendly day focused on walking, not running. The Toulouse event is one of six simultaneous city events, with Clermont-Ferrand and Colmar also hosting.
The format resembles a walking fitness test more than a typical race. Participants begin at 3 km/h, with the pace increasing by 0.5 km/h every 1 minute and 12 seconds, guided by a programmed beeper. Upon completion, walkers receive a digital diploma detailing their performance, providing a clear measure of their walking ability. This event supports France’s national initiative for daily physical activity, endorsed by the sports ministry, addressing the public health issue of sedentariness, which impacts most adults and roughly half of young people.
