About this race

La Montagnacoise is a road cycling race held in Montagnac, a village in the Hérault region situated between Montpellier and Béziers. This event marks the start of the road cycling season in March, offering two distances: 79 km and 119 km. With a limit of 250 participants, it provides a more intimate race setting. Participants begin from the Esplanade des Platanes; the 79 km race is divided by categories, while the 119 km race starts directly. The course features a hilly 40 km circuit, completed twice for the 79 km race and three times for the 119 km race. The initial part of the route is nearly flat and straight, allowing for wind and echelon tactics before the terrain transitions to repeated ascents. Montagnac's location between the Mediterranean coast and the initial foothills of the Cévennes is mirrored in the course design: initially fast, exposed roads give way to climbing challenges. Prizes are awarded to the top three overall finishers for each distance and the leading rider in every category.
