La Mosnacoturne guides runners through the Mosnac countryside after dark, requiring headlamps or belt lamps and reflective clothing from the start. This winter night nature run takes place in Charente, near Mosnac-Saint-Simeux, offering two distances: a 9 km race beginning at 6:45 p.m. and a 14 km race starting at 6:30 p.m. Registration is limited to a few hundred participants, who must be over 16. Sign-ups are processed in advance using standard French running documentation, such as an FFA license, PPS, or medical certificate.
The courses follow paths and trails in a single loop through the countryside, vineyards, and wooded areas surrounding Mosnac. The 9 km route includes approximately 90 metres of elevation gain and loss, with a 1 hour 30 minute time limit and no aid stations. Runners must carry their own water and a cup for the post-race refreshment. The event attracts local trail runners and night-run enthusiasts rather than a large crowd, with recent editions seeing around 300 to 325 finishers or registered runners. Following the run, all participants receive a dinner-style refreshment. The top male and female finishers are awarded gift baskets, while category winners receive a bottle of local aperitif. Costumes are encouraged, with prizes awarded for the best ones.
