About this race
La Nordique en Garrigue is a Nordic walking event in Vergèze, in southern France’s Occitanie region, run as a day of competition and open participation in autumn. The programme includes a competitive Nordic walk of about 12 to 14 km, depending on the edition, plus a shorter open walk of about 7 to 9 km for people who want the same setting without the championship pressure. It is organized by ASSP Vergèze and sits inside the MNT-MNCC Nordic walking circuit.
The race doubles as the Occitanie regional championship, so it draws serious Nordic walkers as well as local club teams and recreational walkers. ACL30 Aimargues has led the team results, while Sandrine Talbotier stands out on the women’s side with six regional titles; other women’s podium finishers include Marion Rivoire and Fabie Rose Champrose. Xavier Gelin has won the men’s regional title. The name points to the garrigue landscape around Vergèze, the dry Mediterranean scrubland that gives the event its local identity.
