La Poinçonnoise Gravel begins in Le Poinçonnet, located in the Boischaut Sud Berry region of central France, offering routes designed for early spring cycling. This is a gravel event conducted in a self-supported manner, resembling a BRM more than a fully supported road race. Participants receive GPX tracks, access to checkpoints, bakery stops, a welcome snack, and a beverage at the finish line.
The course combines dirt tracks, grass, gravel paths, sunken lanes, small water crossings, villages, chateaux, and some challenging sections. Distances cater to various skill levels: 50 km for novices, 100 km with approximately 500 m of elevation gain for more experienced cyclists, and 150 km or 200 km with around 1,000 m of climbing for experts. The routes traverse locations associated with the narratives and books of Georges Sand, as well as Jacques Tati's film Jour de fête. Those arriving the day prior have the option to participate in a Saturday evening group ride. The event is in its early stages, with its fourth edition scheduled.
