About this race
La Ronde de Crussol is a trail-running series held in Saint-Péray, Ardèche, situated in the Crussol mountain area above the Rhône River. The event features short and medium-distance trail races: le Mialan covers 10 km with 300 m of elevation gain, la Ronde is 15 km with 470 m of climbing, and la Picante extends to 30 km with 1,300 m of elevation gain. Additionally, there's a 12 km semi-nocturnal race offering 450 m of climbing, and a 1.2 km trail race for a brief run.
The series provides multiple racing formats over the same terrain. Participants can enter solo, form duos for the 12 km, 15 km, and 30 km distances, and choose between morning starts or an evening 12 km start at 19:15. The climbs are the primary challenge, particularly on la Picante, where the elevation gain is significantly greater than in the shorter races. Saint-Péray also incorporates local history into the event's setting; the town lies beneath the ruins of Château de Crussol, and the nearby Château de Beauregard has a past as a manor, state prison, wine cellar, and restaurant.
