About this race

La Ronde du Terroir takes place in Beaumes-de-Venise, a village in Vaucluse situated at the base of a Gallo-Roman oppidum and near the Dentelles de Montmirail. This trail running event occurs on the first Sunday of December, organized by the Combes et Crêtes association. It features two primary races: the Trail Beaumes de Venise, approximately 23 km with 1,200 m of elevation gain, and La Balméenne, about 13 km with 300 m of elevation gain. Over 80% of the running is off-road, utilizing trails, paths, and single track. The longer course encircles the Oppidum des Courens and the Dentelles de Montmirail massif, with views extending towards the Comtat Venaissin plain, Carpentras, and its canal. The event also offers Nordic walking, known as Les Bâtons du terroir. Participants range from regular trail runners to those opting for the shorter distance; past events have seen over 200 runners in the long race and more than 100 in the short one. The local context is significant: Beaumes-de-Venise is associated with Muscat wine and olive oil, giving the race a connection to the village's landscape rather than a standard trail loop.
