About this race
La Sarmate - Les Survivants guides runners through a 7.75 km loop in Sermiers, a village in the Marne department of France’s Grand Est region. This is a backyard ultra-style trail race: complete the loop, finish within one hour, then start again if you remain in the competition. The event takes place in early April, and its name reflects the format: the official tagline is “Be the last survivor.”
The course crosses forest, vineyards, and open countryside near Sermiers. The difficulty lies not only in the distance but in repeating the same terrain under a strict hourly limit. The 7.75 km option is noted as the most popular trail choice in the La Sarmate series, which also uses forest, vineyard, nature, and backyard designations. One course detail mentions 12 loops of 645.833 m, but the primary race format is the repeated 7.75 km survivor style: continue finishing within the hour or be eliminated.
