La Sorbéranne is a mountain-bike ride held in October in Sorbiers, Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Cyclo La Talaudière Sorbiers organizes the event from the Pôle Sportif de l’Aréna, near the municipal pool and Parc Fraisse, with starts beginning at 8:00. Participants select from four routes: 22, 30, 41, and 54 km, accommodating novice riders, regular mountain bikers, and those seeking a greater challenge. The longest route ascends approximately 1,400 metres, while the 22 km option combines trails with paved sections leading toward La Gachet.
The routes extend towards Valfleury and, for longer distances, Saint-Christo-en-Jarez, utilizing the undulating local terrain for authentic mountain-bike experiences rather than simple paths. The organizers incorporate technical descents and scenic viewpoints, and electric mountain bikes are permitted provided riders manage their battery life. This event, now in its fifth year, offers practical amenities such as showers in the football changing rooms, a bike-wash station, and a strong recommendation for helmet use. A prize draw and tombola feature local prizes, including a mountain bike from the Sorbiers municipal sports office and a stay in Port-Grimaud. Certain sections traverse private paths accessible by permission, and participants are asked not to use these trails outside the event without authorization.
