Le Run des Palets is a 20 km trail race at Charnizay, featuring more climbing than one might expect for this region. It is a demanding, varied run, not a flat speed course, mixing rolling ground, steep ascents, runnable stretches, and technical wooded sections. The route crosses small woods and fields, with three wild “collecteurs” that are the event’s most unusual feature.
The start is specific and sharp: after about 200 meters on road, runners turn left toward the hamlet of La Belletiere and face a 500-meter climb through the woods with over 40 meters of elevation gain. From there, the course descends into a slightly technical forest section, enters the Bois des Portes, then sends runners through short climbs and descents among the trees before a wet meadow and the first aid station at 4.5 km. A road link leads to the Bois de Rigne, where the route suddenly dives into another collecteur for a long, wilder passage; finishers receive applause and a refreshment stop at the finish line.
