Le Trail des Cathelières connects Mallemoisson with old Aiglun in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, near Digne-les-Bains. This nature trail race takes place in late October, offering 11 km and 16 km distances, alongside children's and junior courses. The start is in Mallemoisson, a small Provençal village situated on low wooded hills, featuring paved streets, stairways, and large village houses that give the event a distinctly local starting point.
The route follows ancient paths between Mallemoisson and Aiglun, crossing forests, passing chapels and prehistoric sites, and offering open views of the Dignois countryside. It attracts a diverse field, not exclusively seasoned trail runners, with participants in the past ranging from young children to individuals in their late seventies. Volunteers from Mallemoisson and Aiglun ensure the race proceeds annually, and the day includes a village festival atmosphere: a group warm-up, photobooth, local beer, pizza, and giant games for all ages. One recent edition was noted for strong wind gusts, adding to a short history that already includes mud, cold, and challenging autumn weather.
