Les Foulées des Escargots 2026

Les Foulées des Escargots is a trail race held in Boisseuil, a village in Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, in early September. Despite its name, it is not a leisurely run. Participants select from 6 km, 12 km, and 18 km courses along forest tracks and nature paths, featuring technical sections that demand strength and endurance. A separate race is organized for children and juniors, making the morning suitable for families and adult trail runners alike. The race is part of Boisseuil’s Fête des escargots, a local snail festival that originated as a culinary event and now incorporates a producers’ market and fireworks. The first Foulée des Escargots was established in the early 2000s as a sporting addition to the festival, conceived by Joël Larroque. Larroque, who came from the niche sport of waiter racing, had multiple victories in Limousin and achieved a podium finish in a French championship. The Centre d’Animation Communale (CAC) currently organizes the race, which takes place on the festival's Sunday morning.
