About this race
Les Nocturnes du Pain Chaud guides participants along nighttime trails in Lanfains, a village in Côtes-d’Armor, Brittany. This late-February event offers night trail races, walking routes, a nature walk, and courses for children and juniors. The primary race distances range from 9 km to 18 km, with a 13 km option available, accommodating both those seeking a brief night run and those prepared for a more substantial trail challenge.
The 9 km route alone features approximately 200 metres of elevation gain, indicating it's more than a simple headlamp-lit evening jog. Runners begin towards Carestiemble, face a steep ascent through the fir plantation at the base of the moors, climb again towards the Tipi, a local landmark, then proceed through meadows, small woods near Gueperou, and winding single-track paths. The broader Pain Chaud weekend also covers bread, potato dishes, crepes, amusement rides, and a local hike starting from Carestiemble, which serves as the event's central meeting point. Registration is strictly limited, with no on-site bib sales, and organizers have leveraged participant commitments to donate over 2000 euros to charitable causes.
