About this race
Les Pieds Salés - Ars en Ré is a timed nature run held in Ars-en-Ré, on the Île de Ré off France’s Atlantic coast. It begins in the afternoon from the market square near the port. Runners can select either 7 km or 14 km, with both distances starting simultaneously. The event is open to participants aged 16 and older, utilizing public roads that are either closed or temporarily managed.
This is a first-edition race centered on the salt-making heritage of Ars-en-Ré. The organizer, Le Saunier Rétais, is an association of local salt producers affiliated with the Coopérative des Sauniers de l’Île de Ré. The race aims to connect runners with the salt workers and the island’s salt marshes. The course remains within a single commune, supported by the town hall, municipal police, and the local running club Run In Ré, which assists with technical organization and supplies numerous course marshals.
