About this race
Les Rives du Doubs is a small race series in Besançon, located in the Doubs department of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The city races are designed around the local river setting and heritage. It is typically held at the end of March, offering road running and a walking option. The primary distances are 5 km and 10 km, both run as single loops, with the 10 km being the most popular. Younger participants have their own events: Les Mini Rives is 1.7 km for ages 12 to 15, and children aged 8 to 11 can participate in a 1 km obstacle course.
The races take place within Besançon, intended to showcase the city rather than venture into the countryside. The event is modest in scale, with the previous edition attracting just over 200 participants, giving it the feel of a local community race rather than a large regional event. The name references the Doubs river, and nearby Torpes is situated on the right bank of the same river, downstream from Besançon, where the Doubs forms a wide curve.
