Lyon Urban Trail is an urban trail race focused on the steep sections of Lyon: its stairs, hills, and viewpoints overlooking the city. The event offers five choices, including running distances of 38 km, 28 km, 18 km, and 12 km, along with a 12 km walk. This is not a road race with a flat-city atmosphere; its draw is ascending through Lyon’s urban landscape, treating the city itself as the course.
The 38 km race is the longest option, and the 28 km route is considered the definitive example of Lyon-style urban trail running. The 18 km is available in less demanding or more challenging versions, and the 12 km run serves as the starting point for those new to this type of race. The walking event covers the same distance as the short run and can be approached as a competitive effort or a leisurely stroll. The event typically attracts around 6,000 participants and 600 volunteers, positioning it between a local city competition and a major organized running event.
