About this race
The Terre-de-Bas stage of the Marathon des îles is a 15 km mixed trail-and-road run on Terre-de-Bas, one of the Les Saintes islands in Guadeloupe. It begins at 16:00 from Port Anse des Mériers and concludes at the same port, with 555 meters of elevation gain packed into a short island course. This is the opening leg of a six-stage adventure raid that covers 150 km across six islands in the Guadeloupe archipelago.
The route is hilly, rocky underfoot, and partly shaded by dry undergrowth, requiring more than flat-road speed. Runners carry mandatory gear, including at least 1 liter of water, with the average finish time listed at about two hours. The course utilizes the island’s volcanic hiking paths, overlooks the bay of Les Saintes, and may bring runners near goats, iguanas, and snakes. Bibs are distributed on site, and French participants use the PPS health-awareness process instead of the former medical certificate system.
