About this race
The Marathon des Pyrénées Haut-Garonnaises covers 42.195 km on roads in the central Pyrenees, connecting Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges to the spa town of Luchon. It begins in a small village of a few hundred inhabitants, set in a location rich with history: Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges is a UNESCO World Heritage site, an ancient Roman settlement, a former stop on the Compostela pilgrimage route, and designated one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.
The course proceeds from this hilltop heritage village through a tranquil section of the Haute-Garonne Pyrenees towards Luchon, a mountain spa resort known as the “queen of the Pyrenees.” Participants conclude on the Allee d’Étigny, a 560-metre avenue lined with lime trees that forms one of Luchon’s primary thoroughfares. The event is designed for marathoners seeking a point-to-point course through a mountain region, as opposed to a city circuit, with villages, Pyrenean valleys, and historic spa-town architecture defining the experience.
