About this race

The Médoc Marathon challenges runners with a 42-kilometer course through Grand Cru vineyards, including stops for red wine. Held annually in early September in France’s Médoc wine region, north of Bordeaux, the race begins in Pauillac. This endurance event integrates local wine culture, drawing thousands of participants who appreciate the distance, the costumes, the château-lined roads, and the tasting opportunities en route. The course crosses approximately sixty wine estates, utilizing rural paths and roads that connect historic properties, formal gardens, châteaux, and wineries dating back centuries. It passes through renowned Médoc appellations like Saint-Estèphe, Pauillac, Listrac, and Margaux, featuring landmarks such as Château Margaux, Château Lafite Rothschild, and Léoville Poyferré. Along the route, hosts offer glasses of red wine and small food pairings, blending the marathon with a vineyard festival atmosphere.
