MaxiCross begins in Bouffémont, Val-d’Oise, bordering the Forêt de Montmorency north of Paris. This February trail-running event offers four primary distances: 10 km, 20 km, 27 km, and 42 km. A 10 km option is also available for walkers. The 25 km course includes 700 metres of elevation gain, and the 42 km Trail S covers approximately 2,000 metres, indicating it's more than a simple forest run.
The courses traverse the Montmorency forest's paths and varied terrain, featuring uneven ground, challenging ascents, and sharp descents. MaxiCross stands as one of Île-de-France's established trail events and now also represents the Trail de la forêt de Montmorency. It serves as an early-season test for strong regional competitors, while its range of distances attracts shorter-distance trail runners and walkers. The local saying, “Bouffe les monts de Bouffémont,” aptly describes the race: anticipate cold conditions, hills, and significant forest navigation.
