About this race
The Montée de Chambles is an 11 km trail race from Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert toward Chambles in the Loire department of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Runners do it in late December, between Christmas and New Year’s Day, with 250 metres of climbing and a route that moves between villages, nature paths, and forest sections. The event also includes a 13 km point-to-point walk, so it is not only for runners chasing a time.
The race is usually called the Montée de Chambles, which is easier than its full Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert-to-Chambles name. It draws a big local field, with organizers expecting up to 1,200 runners and about as many walkers. Costumes are encouraged, prizes go to the top women, men, and cadet finishers, and a free bus brings people back after the one-way route.
