About this race
The Nordic Walk in Bordeaux is a weekend walking event in Bordeaux, France, taking place in April. Routes range from 7 km to 23 km. The event centers on Nordic walking, the pole-assisted technique originating in Scandinavia for cross-country skier training. It is presented as distinct in France, welcoming solo walkers, groups of friends, and families, not exclusively seasoned athletes. A 9 km night walk is also offered, crossing central Bordeaux and passing UNESCO-listed locations.
Most routes follow pedestrian paths, including stretches along the Garonne quays, through the Saint-Pierre district, and by the large water mirror at Place de la Bourse. The longest route might incorporate a section of the GR of Bordeaux Métropole. The weekend also features complimentary Saturday introductory sessions with poles available for loan, alongside a Nordic Walk Expo at the Parc des Sports. This expo includes gear vendors, outdoor brands, nutrition stalls, sports federations, associations, and local representatives. Participants can incorporate Bordeaux-themed stops along their routes, from sampling cannelés for energy to visiting the Saint-Michel basilica spire for city views.
