About this race
The Bayonne event in the Odysséa series arrives in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, located in France’s Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. This spring charity event centers on running and walking, offering multiple formats: a 1 km children’s race, a 5 km run, a 10 km run, and a 5 km walk. The entry fees for Bayonne are reasonable, and the Odysséa model directs funds from registrations and donations to breast-cancer research and support organizations.
Odysséa originated as a French non-profit founded by international athlete Frédérique Quentin and physiotherapist Frédérique Jules to support the fight against breast cancer. The series takes place in cities including Paris, Nantes, Chambéry, Dijon, Brest, Toulouse, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Reunion Island, and Bayonne, attracting a diverse field of runners, walkers, families, and individuals participating for the cause. The Bayonne event is set in a local Basque environment; post-race, participants are near the historic center, its traditional buildings, and the riverbanks of the Nive. The series also features a donation village, and past funded projects have supported research at prominent institutes and provided practical aid for patients, such as wigs and assistance with childcare during chemotherapy.
