The Rallye cyclo des Vieilles Pierres is an early-season cycling randonnée held in Montagny, south of Lyon. Riders begin at the École des Landes on Route du Bâtard. This event offers routes for both road and gravel cyclists, not a single mass-start race. Road routes are 60, 85, and 110 km, with elevation gains from 950 to 2,000 metres. Gravel routes are 45, 65, and 80 km, with 600 to 1,500 metres of climbing. Starts are available in the morning between 08:00 and 11:00. Electric-assist bikes are permitted on the gravel rides.
The gravel routes lead towards Le Signal, utilizing a combination of orchard tracks, Landes paths, forest singletrack, balcony trails, and passages through old villages. The 80 km gravel route extends the shorter course for those seeking the longest off-road challenge. Entry fees are modest, with different rates for licensed riders, non-licensed riders, those under 18, and for online registration. The event follows the cyclotourist-randonnée tradition, making it suitable for club riders, friends beginning their season together, and cyclists desiring a hilly ride without the atmosphere of a formal road race.
