Randonnée Vins et Champignons is a weekend randonnée in Saumur, in the Loire Valley, centered on local vineyards and the mushroom season. Les Cyclotouristes Saumurois organize it, typically in October, offering riding and walking options instead of a single mass-start race. The event is suitable for road cyclists, gravel riders, mountain bikers, walkers, and families, with modest entry fees covering insurance, refreshments, visits, and tasting stops.
The routes traverse the Saumurois countryside, utilizing vineyards, forests, fields, and roads near the Loire. Road riders can select shorter or longer courses up to approximately 100 km, gravel riders also have extended options, and VTT routes are around 30-50 km. Some editions include a Saturday 70 km road ride and a guided tour of Saumur. Local character is important: Saumur is wine country, known for sparkling wines and Saumur-Champigny reds. The program combines cellar visits and wine tastings with searching for edible wild mushrooms.
