The Pyla 10 km is a road race held in Pyla-sur-Mer, located on France's Nouvelle-Aquitaine coast adjacent to the Arcachon basin. The race commences at 9:30 from the Cercle de Voile and concludes at Place Daniel Meller. The course is entirely paved and includes approximately 50 metres of elevation gain. Typically held in mid-April, it offers an early-season seaside 10K experience, distinct from extended mountain excursions or trail runs.
The route winds through the streets of Pyla, guiding participants near the Dune and the Corniche area, with vistas of the Arcachon basin appearing around the halfway mark. A notable challenge is the Corniche hill, a brief ascent that adds difficulty beyond that of a flat coastal 10K. ALTEA, the Arcachon La Teste entente athletisme club, manages the race with the assistance of volunteers, attracting approximately 1,000 finishers. Bib collection necessitates a valid FFA license or PPS document; medical certificates are not accepted due to current French running regulations.
