Salta bartas de nuech is an evening trail race in Chanac, in the Lozere department of southern France. Runners start at 18:30 in February, so the event has a night-race feel rather than a standard daytime trail format. The program is short and steep: the longer route is about 12.6 to 13 km with 650 m of climbing, and the discovery trail is 9 km with 300 m of climbing.
The race sits in the same Lozere trail-running world as the Salta Bartas association, whose events use the rough limestone country around the Gorges du Tarn, the Grands Causses, and the Lot Valley. For this Chanac race, the draw is simple: a compact winter outing, low entry fees, and enough vertical gain to make both distances feel like real mountain-style efforts.
