Spartan Race Carcassonne is an obstacle race weekend at Lac de la Cavayère, near Carcassonne in southern France, taking place in May. Participants can choose between a Sprint 5K with 20 obstacles and a Super 10K with 25 obstacles, plus a Kids Race for younger participants. As part of the Spartan Race series, the event centers on running, climbing, carrying, crawling, and overcoming various obstacles.
The course features rough dirt paths, water crossings, and cobblestones, requiring more than just flat-road speed. Beginners may opt for the shorter distance, while experienced racers can challenge themselves on the longer course or use the weekend to work towards a Spartan Trifecta. The location contributes to the race's character: Carcassonne is a UNESCO World Heritage medieval city, and the adjacent lake provides an open natural area and a water obstacle.
