The Valmorel Spartan Super is a 10 km winter obstacle race with 500 m of elevation gain, taking place in March at the Valmorel ski resort in France’s Tarentaise region. It marks the start of the Spartan Race season in France and is part of a larger winter weekend featuring Sprint, Super, Beast, Winter Trifecta, and Hurricane Heat events.
The Super course begins and ends in Valmorel, incorporating resort terrain, cold weather, climbs, obstacles, and snow-covered ground into the challenge. The location is Alpine, approximately two hours from major Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes cities. Organizers describe the weekend as the largest event of its kind held at a French ski resort. Since 2016, over 10,000 participants have completed races there, with both experienced Spartan racers and newcomers using it to begin their season in the mountains.
