About this race
The Blood Run is a community race day in Solliès-Pont, France, organized by the blood donors association of the Gapeau Valley to promote blood donation. The program is local: a 14.4 km wheelchair race, a 7.2 km run open to all, and a 7.2 km Nordic walk. The wheelchair race and walk start first in the morning, followed by the open run half an hour later.
The 7.2 km route goes through the commune and across the plain, with starts near the château gates. Nearly 300 people lined up even in heavy rain, demonstrating the event’s local appeal. François Roché and Jean-Pierre Callonges direct the race with a large volunteer crew; the organizers state they need about 100 volunteers for smooth operations. After the racing, the day includes awards and a shared social moment.
