The Thoiry Night Race guides participants through the Thoiry Safari Zoo grounds after sunset, requiring headlamps for dimly lit sections. This night race in Ile-de-France covers approximately 150 hectares of zoo and parkland, featuring three race distances: 1 km for children aged 6-10, 5 km for ages 11 and up, and 10 km for ages 16 and up. The event evolved from Thoiry’s yearly race and previous Thoiry Wild Race editions, but this iteration shifts the start to the evening and concludes within the Thoiry Lumieres Sauvages light displays.
The route incorporates forest paths, paved walkways, and firm, stabilized trails, with level sections, minor ascents and descents, and a few steps. Runners should focus on their footing rather than solely on speed. Approximately 2,500 participants are anticipated, with the various distances accommodating children, casual runners, club athletes, and competitive racers on the same grounds. Registration includes the race bib and zoo admission, with a portion of the entry fees supporting Thoiry Conservation's animal preservation efforts.
