About this race

Trail Blanc du Gaschney starts at the Gaschney ski resort above the Munster Valley, inside the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park. It is a winter trail race in Alsace, organized by Colmar Trail Aventures, with a current route of about 14 km and 700 m of climbing. The name means “white trail,” but the organizers say snow is not guaranteed every year, so the format can change with conditions. Recent sold-out editions have drawn around 400 competitors, which makes it feel more like a compact mountain gathering than a huge road race. The route uses the Gaschney area in the Vosges, so runners should expect cold-weather trail running, climbing, and ski-station terrain rather than fast flat roads. CTA once offered two distances, 9 km and 18 km, before reducing the event to one race. Seasoned trail runners line up with amateurs, and the organizers also make room for friends and family around the event. Its personality comes from the volunteers, the festive mood, and the Yeti mascot, which appears in the race’s own “Gare au yéti!” messaging.
