The Trail Castelpontin takes place in Pont-du-Château, Puy-de-Dôme, within France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, typically in early October. This trail and nature-running event offers short, middle, and long course options. Participants can select from a straightforward 8 km course with approximately 50 m of elevation gain to a 34 km route featuring about 1,350 m of ascent.
The courses traverse the forests and open plains surrounding Pont-du-Château, avoiding solely urban paths. The shortest race functions as a near single-loop introduction, while the longer routes incorporate significantly more climbing. Intermediate distances of around 14 km and 23 km are also available. Organized by CCourir à Pont-du-Château - CLUB FFA, recent events have seen over 100 participants in the short race and more than 200 in the longer trail race, creating a local club atmosphere with sufficient challenge for regular trail runners.
