About this race

Trail de l'Apocalypse is a night race held in Angers, Maine-et-Loire, western France, beginning after sunset in mid-November. The event focuses on shorter distances rather than elevation: the primary choices are approximately 8 to 10 km, with a 6 km Sprint de l'Apocalypse also available. It blends road and trail running, utilizing the city as the course rather than remote natural areas. The route incorporates streets, public parks, castle grounds, and some elevation changes. The 10 km course has about 80 m of elevation gain, and the shorter sprint around 50 m. Starts are staggered in the evening, with the sprint race commencing first, followed shortly by the 10 km. A recent edition attracted approximately 4,000 participants. Local media reported a positive atmosphere, noting that participants compete both for personal challenge and to embrace the event's theme, captured by the race slogan, "the most beautiful end of the world." Aangers Terre d'Athletisme organizes the race, with bib collection available during several pre-race periods at Carrefour Grand Maine.
