The Trail de l'Escalo is a mountain trail race held in February in L'Escale, a commune of approximately 1,400 residents in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Organized by Team Runner Déclic 04, it offers two running distances: a 11 km trail and a 30 km route with 1,400 m of elevation gain. A free 7 km Nordic walk is also available, catering to non-runners. Over 300 participants are anticipated, with staggered starts throughout the morning.
The 30 km race is the more demanding option, featuring time checks at 8 km and 20 km, and qualifying for both the Super Challenge FSGT and Challenge Running 04. Its ascent provides views towards the Col d'Allos and the Durance valley. The 11 km course typically attracts the largest number of participants because of its accessibility, while the Nordic walk crosses part of the Lac de l'Escale shoreline and crosses a Himalayan footbridge. Race bibs are distributed at the Salle Culturelle de l'Escale, followed by a post-race buffet.
