About this race
The Trail de l'Estuaire de la Dives begins on the beach at Cabourg, located on Normandy’s Côte Fleurie, and proceeds around the Dives estuary in Calvados. EDAC, the local Estuaire de la Dives athletics club, stages the event annually around mid-April, offering trail races and a walking option across multiple distances. The event has featured various formats, including shorter courses of approximately 10 to 16 km, intermediate courses of about 28 to 35 km, and a longer corniche route. Elevation gain varies from around 220 m on the shorter trails to approximately 600 m on the longest listed course.
Participants should anticipate a coastal trail event operating under semi-autonomous rules, requiring them to carry their own cups for aid stations. Each race incorporates the timed “100 marches” challenge, which comprises 139 steps, providing a distinct signature moment even for the shorter routes. The program typically caters to a diverse field: trail runners opting for the more demanding distances, local club members, walkers on the shared gourmet-trail-style route, and individuals seeking a Normandy seaside race without the commitment of an ultra. Food is provided at the finish, animals are prohibited on the courses, and French race documentation can be managed via the FFA health prevention process in lieu of a medical certificate.
