About this race

Trail de l'Etendard is a mountain trail series in the French Alps, linking Bourg d'Oisans in Isere with Saint Sorlin d'Arves in Savoie. It is usually run around late July or early August, with several distances for different levels: shorter routes around 16-17 km, middle options around 22-25 km, and longer races of about 44-45 km and 65 km. The event is part of the UTMB Index races, so runners can use some finishes toward UTMB-related qualification and ranking. The long routes cross the Grandes Rousses massif and pass close to 12 notable lakes, including Lac Blanc, Lac Bramant, and Lac de Grand Maison. The 44-45 km option starts from Bourg d'Oisans and climbs hard through Villard-Reculas, gaining about 2000 meters in its first 20 km before reaching the lakes of the Rousses balcony and descending with views toward Lac de Grand'Maison. The shorter Saint Sorlin route still has real mountain terrain, with a passage near the Saint Sorlin glacier and through the highest pasture in Europe, while the Bourg d'Oisans short route gives runners a lower-altitude look at the Oisans massif.
