About this race
Trail de l'Hyrome is a trail-running series held in November in Chemille-en-Anjou, Maine-et-Loire, western France. The name derives from the Hyrome river, which defines the race area, with start and finish lines in Chemille. The event provides 6 km, 12 km, 16 km, 27 km, and 45 km distances. The shorter races are suited for beginners, while the 27 km and 45 km routes offer more elevation gain and extended time on the trails for experienced runners. The 27 km race is considered the primary event, and the series supports a charitable cause.
The course crosses paths and trails within the Val de l'Hyrome, passing through Saint Lambert du Lattay, Rablay, Beaulieu-sur-Layon, and Chanzeaux. Participants will run through Anjou vineyards, forest tracks, and narrow single-track sections, distinguishing the race from a simple road event on unpaved surfaces. A notable feature is a river crossing requiring participants to use a rope and wade through water reaching thigh-high. The event attracts a diverse field; one edition saw almost 1,200 participants compete across the 6 km, 12 km, 16 km, and 27 km races, with past champions and local athletes competing on the same day.
