The Trail de la Sainte Baume is a mountain trail-running series held in Cuges-les-Pins, within France’s Bouches-du-Rhône department, with races taking place inside the Sainte-Baume Regional Natural Park. Typically scheduled for late winter, the event offers runners multiple distances: short mountain routes of approximately 15–16 km, a 29 km option, the 45 km La Grande Baume, a children’s race, and the Ultra Baume for those seeking a full day of running.
The Ultra Baume, the most challenging event, is a 103 km loop around the Sainte-Baume massif, featuring about 5,300 m of elevation gain and 4 ITRA points. The course crosses old forests and limestone ridges, ascends to Joug de l’Aigle at 1,148 m, and includes steep climbs and technical singletrack with vistas towards the Mediterranean Sea and the Southern Alps. La Grande Baume is also demanding, covering about 46 km with roughly 2,400 m of climbing, while La Boucle Cugeoise combines rocky sections with gentler forest paths. This series suits trail runners who prefer rugged terrain, significant elevation gain, and Provençal mountain landscapes over rapid, road-like racing.
