About this race
The Trail de la Vallee de la Souleuvre is a nature trail race in Souleuvre-en-Bocage, Calvados, Normandy. It provides two short off-road options: a 7.5 km route with approximately 110 to 120 metres of elevation gain, and a longer route of about 14 to 15 km with 400 metres of climbing. The longer race begins first in the morning, with the shorter race starting half an hour later, structuring the event around accessible distances rather than an all-day ultra format.
The course crosses the Souleuvre valley, featuring wooded hills, sunken lanes, and forest paths within the Vire bocage. The shorter distance offers participants a brief experience of the terrain, while the longer one presents a significantly steeper profile for its distance. Souleuvre-en-Bocage is also home to the Souleuvre Viaduct, a prominent bungee-jumping location in France, serving as a distinct landmark for the area beyond the race. This event is a recent addition to the local race schedule, with reasonable entry fees and bibs available for both distances.
