About this race
Trail de Noël d'Ollioules sends runners into the hills above Ollioules, a Var village in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur between Toulon and Sanary, a few days before Christmas Eve. It is a winter trail race rather than a road run, with short but steep options: the Trace des Lutins is about 16 km with 800 meters of climbing, while the longer duo course is about 27 km with 1,600 meters of climbing.
The race has run every year since 1999 and leans into its Christmas timing with the playful line, “Petit papa noëlllll, quand tu viendras faire ce traillllll.” Runners are told to dress warmly, although the climbing can make the cold feel secondary pretty quickly. The field is built around people who want a hard December outing before the holiday meals, with solo runners on the shorter route and pairs sharing the bigger course.
