Trail des 7 Monts is an October trail race held in Septmoncel les Molunes, in the Haut-Jura region of eastern France. It features three primary distances: the 9 km Sprint Trail, the 15 km Enjambée des 7 Monts, and a long course of approximately 34 km. The short race involves a 370-meter ascent, the 15 km route climbs 600 meters, and the long course gains about 1,900 meters. Even the shorter options present genuine mountain running challenges, distinct from flat terrain races. The courses primarily consist of dirt paths and mountain trails, with minimal road sections, and the terrain is characterized as technical. Novices may opt for the Sprint Trail or participate in the 9 km or 14 km hiking categories. More experienced runners can choose the long course crossing wild Jura trails and demanding local ascents. The 15 km event is also available as a Nordic walk. Established for roughly forty years, the race retains a local character, exemplified by traditions such as a post-race couscous meal for long-course participants during its anniversary edition.
