About this race
The Trail des Beaux-Monts begins and ends at Stade Paul Petitpoisson in Compiègne, leading participants into the Forêt de Compiègne in the Oise department of Hauts-de-France. This mid-September forest trail event offers four race distances: 5 km, 15 km, 27 km, and 42 km. The shorter races are suitable for those seeking a nature run over a strenuous mountain-style challenge, while the marathon distance provides experienced trail runners a full day in the woods. A 12 km walk is also included, ensuring the event caters to more than just competitive runners.
The course crosses the Compiègne forest, a vast beech and oak woodland recognized as the third largest of its type in France. This forest holds a significant royal history, having been utilized as a royal hunting ground since the 6th century. The event is one of the initial stages of the Challenge Oise Trail, attracting both local trail runners and recreational participants. The 42 km race provides a GPS trace, a practical detail suggesting a longer, more independent route compared to the shorter, marked courses. The event embraces its name with the motto “Ça te donne du Beaumonts au cœur !”
