About this race

The Trail des Cerises in Plouégat-Guérand is a March trail race starting at the Guillaume Lejean municipal hall. It offers 12 km and 22 km running courses, alongside 8 km and 11 km walking routes. The longer race involves approximately 550 meters of elevation gain, while the 12 km course has about 200 meters. Both distances feature authentic countryside trails, distinct from flat road races. This event is organized by the school’s Amicale laïque, with proceeds supporting local students' trips and activities. The courses wind through wooded areas, hilly paths, and fields in the Douron Valley. The 22 km route crosses the valley and the Natura 2000 site known as the "chaise du curé," keeping its final 8 km route undisclosed until race day. The shorter trail follows the Douron Valley in the reverse direction compared to previous years, with two additional kilometers added at the conclusion. Past events have seen hundreds of runners on both trails, over 250 walkers, and about a hundred volunteers managing logistics from early morning. A local tradition is the Gilles-Toquer trophy, presented to the top runner from Plouégat-Guérand on the longer trail.
