Trail des Châtaignes starts at the Fort de Cormeilles-en-Parisis in Val-d'Oise, on the northwestern edge of the Paris area. It is an autumn trail-running weekend in the Massif du Parisis, with five events rather than a single race: canicross, canirando, a night trail, a 36 km trail, and a 17 km race called Le Fort.
The routes use demanding local trails and give runners repeated views over Paris and the wider basin. The organizers work with heritage and land-management bodies so the course avoids fragile areas and lets parts of the massif recover. Saturday brings the dog events, including a canirando organized with the Canipirates club, followed by the night race; Sunday is for the 36 km Châtaignes and the 17 km Fort. Runners who want a harder weekend can combine the 22 km night trail with either Sunday race and get a separate challenge ranking.
