The Trail des Dahus Sallanchards is a late-April trail running event held in Sallanches, Haute-Savoie, situated at the base of the Mont Blanc massif. The races utilize the Lacs des Ilettes and forest paths above the Arve Valley. The timing coincides with the close of the ski season and the arrival of improved weather. The main event, Les Dahus Courtisans, is a 26 km race for pairs, featuring approximately 1,500 m of elevation gain. It commences on Saturday afternoon and concludes after dark, requiring teams to finish by headlamp and cross the line together to be officially recorded.
The organizers maintain secrecy regarding the Courtisans route until just before the event, partly to safeguard local landowners and wildlife, preventing runners from fully scouting the course. The weekend also includes the Ultime Dahu Sallanchard, a Last Runner Standing competition on a 6.5 km loop with 330 m of ascent, repeated hourly for up to 24 hours. Shorter races are available: the solo Dahus Affolés, approximately 15 km with 900 m of climbing, and the Dahus Égarés, a more moderate 7.5 km introduction to the local trails. Children’s races contribute to the event's community atmosphere, and participants might observe eagles, hawks, or chamois on the forested hillsides above Sallanches.
